Alrick is a child and youth worker with 25+ years of experience. He has been active in before and after-school programs for children from junior kindergarten to grade 5. He mentors and counsels "at risk" and homeless youth.
Fifteen years ago Alrick established a basketball-based mentoring program for youth aged 15 and up. Six years ago he added a second program for younger players. He continues to run both.
TESTIMONIALS
Students will seek out Alrick when they have an issue
that is personal and requires the confidence and trust
that he affords. His willingness to have the difficult but
necessary conversations with our students makes him a
leader within our school community and a known
member of our area. He has the unique ability to allow
all groups to co-exist in a meaningful and positive
environment where real learning and value systems are
being absorbed by these youth.
- G. Millett, Teacher
I have had the pleasure of working with Alrick these
past four years in my role as vice principal at York
Humber High School… Outside of the classroom
Alrick has worked with numerous students as a
staff mentor, a coach of numerous sports, and a
male role model to numerous young men and
women who do not have this experience in their
lives. This part of Alrick's role at York Humber is not
part of his job description, but what he truly
believes is necessary to help students achieve their
goals in life. Alrick has given much of his free time to
helping students with their homework; helping
them work on resumes for a job; counselling them
on potential interview questions; and
most importantly being there for them when things
do not work out as was hoped. There are few
people I have met in education who try do as much
as Alrick does for students. I give him my
highest recommendation with no reservations.
- N. Rowe, Vice-Principal
He is famously dependable, strictly punctual, committed
to hard work, and utterly dedicated. He demands
similar standards from our students and raises their
commitment to themselves and their education.
- R. Wing, Teacher

The objective of STRYVE is to provide skill-building programs for Children and Youth based on our principles of applied behaviour. We understand that our children and Youth face many challenges during what can be a difficult time in their lives.
Building on our Basketball-based Mentoring Programs STRYVE works to create a stable environment so that our children and Youth can more effectively engage with their families and communities, creating opportunities for them to excel and increase their confidence.
